Curious Roses
Westminster Stained Glass designed these windows for the set of the Old
Town Playhouse’s production of The Curious Savage. Following the final
performance, both windows were auctioned off at a fund raising event.
Windows of this type,
incorporating naturalistic studies of roses and other flowers, leaded
into clear glass and bordered with small panes of squares or diamonds,
were popular in the late 1800s. These ornate yet symmetrical designs ornamented
many residences and apartment buildings before Art Nouveau gained popularity.
