A Reflection of
Life
As tribute to one of its late parishioners, the First Congregational Church
at the base of Old Mission Peninsula in Traverse City commissioned Westminster
Stained Glass to create this memorial window at the side entrance to its
chapel. One of the design objectives was to coordinate with the existing
stained glass at the front of the chapel, which is in the form of a cross.
The new windows echo the color and style of the existing window, and symbolize
warmth and new life. This is achieved in an abstract way, with yellows,
blues, and greens representing the sun, earth, sky and vegetation. The
windows are functional as well as inspirational; they create a visual
separation between the chapel from the Fireside Meeting Room, while letting
the light shine through.
